In Plato's Timaeus Dialogue he explains how the world was create by a being called the Demiurge from a space of pure benevolence. Using a divinely inspired template drawn from 'the world of form' - a place where everything exists in perpetual perfection as an idea rather than an object - the Demiurge molded matter in the heavens and the earth. This painting depicts that moment of creation.
